What’s there to do on the Riviera Maya?

by Royal Holiday

For happy suntanning there’s no where on Earth like the Riviera Maya. A spectacular resort district, there’s still a lot more to it than you may have thought. These are just a few of the truly important excursion areas for when you want to get out and about. Puerto Morelos: Fisherman from the world over come for the barracuda, shark, sailfish, swordfish and a whole host of other species. But if diving is more your thing, there’s nowhere better on the planet. Both the General Anaya and the Juan Escutia shipwrecks were sunk, deliberately, off the coast to support the amazing coral reefs and to preserve the area’s biodiversity. puerto_morelos Riviera Maya Golf Club: The most precise sport known to humankind, one of the Cancun area’s best golf courses is 90 hectares of jungle, cenotes and lakes, with greens designed by Robert Trent Jones. riviera_maya Playa del Carmen: Bedecked by the Playa Maroma, Xpu-ha, Akumal, and Mamitas beaches, Play del Carmen is an unforgettable beach town. The first two beaches are placid. Akumal supports nearby ecological attraction. But if your plan is to party, Playa Mamitas goes late into the night. All of them are easily accessible by shuttle from the Grand Riviera Princess. playa_carmen Tulum: Always unforgettable, Tulum counts no less than nine kilometers of coastline, with some of the world’s most unforgettable archaeology. The beaches of Las Ruinas, Boca Paila and Playa Paraíso are stunning in their natural beauty and Playa Paraíso is just a few kilometers south of the archaeological area. tulum Cancun: Cancun is famous for a reason. Some the Caribbean’s most heartbreaking beaches, for the transparency of the water and that famous turquoise blue color, don’t miss Cancun. Sands are powdery white and always soft, but Cancun is a party town, too. While the natural world is the main draw, it’s all supported by major tourist infrastructure: world-class restaurants and aquatic sports like diving and parachuting, are all flanked by some of the very best shopping. Royal Holiday members stay at the Park Royal Cancun or the Grand Park Royal Cancun, but visits from the Grand Riviera Princess are perfectly do-able in an afternoon.
