    trip

Going on vacation is always an exciting experience. We get excited about exploring a new place, making new memories, and spending quality time with our loved ones. However, this excitement can easily translate into wanting to see everything in just one trip. Without realizing it, we can end up burning out faster than expected. When we pack our itinerary with too many things to do, our vacations often end up making us more tired, and we may not enjoy them as much.

Even though wanting to see everything is something we can all be guilty of, it is also possible to have a more balanced vacation. After traveling a lot over the last few years, here are some of the things that I often remind myself of when I start planning my trips.

    BEACH DESTINATIONS

    beach destination

Many beach destinations are perfect for relaxing vacations. However, places like Cancun, Los Cabos, and Miami have a lot to offer beyond a nice day at the beach.

With different water activities, theme parks, shops, nightclubs, and bars, a trip that was initially planned for relaxation can easily turn into a busy vacation. The best way to balance a beach trip is to combine relaxing moments with fun activities.

If you decide to spend a day in Cancun at a theme park like Xcaret, maybe the next day would be perfect for a spa day or a relaxing afternoon by your hotel’s pool.

    BIG CITIES

    big cities

When we visit big cities like Paris, London, New York, or Mexico City, it is very easy to plan something for every second of our itinerary. Visiting museums, iconic buildings, tourist attractions, and taking tour after tour to learn all about a destination’s history can be an amazing way to get to know a place. Nonetheless, this fast-paced dynamic can turn into a race to get from one place to the next.

It not only becomes a stressful experience, but it can also make us tired much faster during the trip. My best recommendation is to choose one or two things you want to do each day and then give yourself some time to explore the city at your own pace. You can even take some extra time in the morning to relax or grab a coffee at a local café. Discover how to earn more credits for your next trip.

These moments when you pause can end up being some of the most memorable ones, as well as crucial moments for your body to recharge and keep its energy up throughout the trip. Remember that if you feel well-rested, you will be able to enjoy the trip even more.

    LIST OUT YOUR PRIORITIES

Many times, when we are traveling, we end up filling our entire itinerary because we think we won’t be back in that place for a while. And although this may be true, it’s much better to visit five places and really soak in the experience than to visit fifteen and rush from one to the other without actually enjoying the moment.

The biggest recommendation I can give you is to make a list of the top places you want to visit and then make a second list of the places you would like to visit if there is more time. This priority list will help you create a more organized itinerary while avoiding overbooking your vacation. If you end up having some extra time, you will now also have a Plan B with things to do or places to visit.

    PLAN AHEAD

Having an itinerary planned from the start of your trip will not only help you know what’s next, but it will also help you enjoy every place a bit more, as you won’t feel like you’re constantly rushing to the next thing.

If you’re visiting more than one place in a day, it’s important to check the distance between them and have an idea of how you’re going to get from one place to another. It’s not worth trying to see two places on the same day if they are on completely opposite sides of the city.

As I mentioned before, try to leave some free time as part of your itinerary. Let yourself be amazed by the hidden gems of each destination and explore without having to rush. Having a relaxing morning after a long day will also help you balance your energy throughout the vacation.

This balance won’t only help you feel less tired, but it will also help you be more present and content in the moment, which, at the end of the day, is the reason why we love to travel. Book with Royal Holiday!
